Hello again, dear friends! You might have already read our first blog post about the meaning of mindful living and its beginnings, but if you have not, this is your sign to do it. We wanted to use this space to introduce you to us instead.
We thought it was only proper for us to do it since you chose to devote your time to reading our humble little blog. So, let’s start again. Hello! We are a couple living in the Cotswolds in England and we are happy to meet you.
Our Mindful Journey
You might be at the beginning of your mindful living journey or not even started it yet, thinking that perhaps this is not for you due to your current way of life and we can relate to that. We originally met in London as students and we were excited to leave the boring countryside for the big city and all its hustle and bustle.
We got together during our undergrad course and remained in London after we graduated to pursue high-paying jobs, so we can afford to live in a fancy flat somewhere in Zone 1 (Zone 2 would have sufficed as well). We got lucky and we actually got good jobs which allowed us to indulge in every luxury we thought we wanted.
You can probably already sense where this is going. We spent the next five years seeing West End productions and visiting every new chic bar in Kensington, but while we were not doing those things, we were both two very, very tried people.
We noticed how we barely had time for each other after work and even for ourselves. We would wake up, take a quick cold shower, skip breakfast and go straight to coffee and then to work. After work, we would have some ramen or order takeout and watch the latest TV show.
Yes, we could also indulge but we barely had any time to indulge in anything. After years of living this unhealthy lifestyle, we realised we couldn’t do it much longer. We were constantly stressed out and then wiped out at the end of the day.
We didn’t want to radically change though. We thought that the only way to do it was ditching the corporate world and all our ambitions until we found mindful living. We did ditch London for the Cotswolds, but we managed to find jobs nearby which almost matched the ones we held in the capital.
The difference was not only the result of a change of scenery, but also that of mindset. We learnt how to better plan our days, how to eat healthier, and how to set our priorities straight, so we don’t sacrifice our well-being for something temporary and frivolous.
Our Blog
If you feel like you need a similar meaningful change, but you don’t know how to start, we hope this blog helps you figure it out. You don’t have to move or start a new job or anything like that. You can achieve mindful living today by following simple principles and taking baby steps.
